Shop welded tanks are fabricated and assembled in a shop or factory environment. With diameters typically in the 2.5 to 4.5 meter range, these silos are the mainstay for industrial and process dry bulk material storage for capacities in the range of truck-load or rail car-load volumes. Utilized for a very wide range of applications, they can be constructed of aluminum, stainless steel, or mild steel. When compared to site welded tanks, they have the advantange of being able to utilize higher grade coatings than site welded tanks, and some manufacturers actually are supplying very high grade oven cured coatings. These tanks are shipped as a completed unit and are set in place at the project site utilizing a crane.
